I really like this song, even if it's a bit old-fashioned and fits nicely into the worship music "box"; it just puts me in a good mood when I listen to it because of the truth in the lyrics. What I mostly like about it, though, is that Kari is so young and already she is leading people of all ages into God's presence in the thousands..that is amazing to me. And, of course, it's always encouraging to me to see women stepping up to the challenge of leading worship. [Plus I love her voice. And her cute hair. ;)]

Three blogs in one day..
..and 4 in two. Guess I got a lot to say this week. Too bad I don't get paid by the line when I'm typing blogs.
Anyway, another awesome time today with Jason and Jon. I am learning so much, it's kind of overwhelming! But those two have been such a blessing, both as leaders and as friends.
Just thought it was worth mentioning.

To the spoiled under 30 crowd..
This is hilarious, and sadly, I can attest to it all...hehehe
When I was a kid, adults used to bore me to tears with their tedious diatribes about how hard things were when they were growing up; what with walking twenty-five miles to school every morning ... uphill BOTH ways..Yadda, Yadda, Yadda...And I remember promising myself that when I grew up, there was no way in hell I was going to lay a bunch of crap like that on kids about how hard I had it and how easy they've got it! But now that I'm over the ripe old age of thirty, I can't help but look around and notice the youth of today. You've got it so easy! I mean, compared to my childhood, you live in a damn Utopia! And I hate to say it but you kids today, you don't know how good you've got it! I mean, when I was a kid we didn't have the Internet . If we wanted to know something, we had to go to the damn library and look it up ourselves, in the card catalog!! There was no email!! We had to actually write somebody a letter ..with a pen! Then you had to walk all the way across the street and put it in the mailbox and it would take like a week to get there! There were no MP3's or Napsters! You wanted to steal music, you had to hitchhike to the dang record store and shoplift it yourself! Or you had to wait around all day to tape it off the radio and the DJ'd usually talk over the beginning and @#*% it all up! We didn't have fancy stuff like Call Waiting! If you were on the phone and somebody else called they got a busy signal, that's it!And we didn't have fancy Caller ID Boxes either! When the phone rang, you had no idea who it was! It could be your school, your mom, your boss, yourgirlfriend, your drug dealer, a collections agent, you just didn't know!!! You had to pick it up and take your chances, mister! We didn't have any fancy Sony Playstation video games with high-resolution 3-D graphics! We had the Atari 2600! With games like 'Space Invaders' and 'asteroids'. Your guy was a little square! You actually had to use your imagination! And there were no multiple levels or screens, it was just one screen forever! And you could never win. The game just kept getting harder and harder and faster and faster until you died! Just like real LIFE! When you went to the movie theater there no such thing as stadium seating! All the seats were the same height! If a tall guy or some old broad with a hat sat in front of you and you couldn't see, you were just out of luck! Sure, we had cable television, but back then that was only like 15 channels and there was no on screen menu and no remote control! You had to use a little book called a TV Guide to find out what was on! You were screwed when it came to channel surfing! You had to get off your butt and walk over to the TV to change the channel... and there was no Cartoon Network either! You could only get cartoons on Saturday Morning. Do you hear what I'm saying!?! We had to wait ALL WEEK for cartoons, you spoiled little brats! And we didn't have microwaves, if we wanted to heat something up we had to use the stove or go build a flipping fire .. imagine that! If we wanted popcorn, we had to use that stupid Jiffy Pop thing and shake it over the stove forever like an idiot. That's exactly what I'm talking about! You kids today have got it too easy. You're spoiled. You guys wouldn't have lasted five minutes back in 1980!

Luckily, I am not lying when I say that I am not in the over-30 crowd quite yet...

Seriously!?!
My kids [and my husband] have been sick off and on for around 2 weeks now...first it was Mikayla, and now the other 2...cough, fever, headache, sore throat.. And they keep passing it back and forth, despite my efforts to maintain a sanitary environment. I think they're at the tail end of it now, with a lingering nasty cough being the main concern. Of course, with them all sick, my social life takes a giant plunge. I haven't really been out of my house since Wednesday! And I absolutely need the stimulation! I think I have done a pretty good job of balancing my family life and my extracirricular activities, so as not to be bored by either. And when I don't get that balance perfect, the universe is directly affected. Ok not really.
I, too, have been fighting off this sickness for what seems to be weeks now. I haven't really had symptoms of being sick, mostly just sheer exhaustion by normal everyday activities that I could typically do with my eyes closed. I thought I was home-free until today, when I woke up with a massive head and neck ache that a steaming shower didn't relieve. So now, yet again, not feeling miserable enough to justify staying in bed all day [not that I would be able to anyway...*sigh*] and feeling well enough to be stir crazy, I am stuck inside my house crawling with sick germs with an aching neck and my head spinning from being so extremely isolated from the outside world.
On that note, I am looking forward to this coming week! I've got some things lined up outside of the house that will hopefully restore my aformentioned balance. So for now I will try my best to just relax today and fight the urge to do every little thing that I see needs to be taken care of around here and just rest up.
On tomorrow's To-Do list: DISINFECT!!!!
Bye for now.

I am determined...
I'm wondering if the last couple of weeks is a foreshadow of what's to come this year..I don't think I have had a slowgoing weekend or week since October! Something different seems to be happening all the time, from many of my friends celebrating thier 30th, to supporting my friends by promoting their businesses [Hailey, Rhea, Amy, Rebecca, Jaymie, you all know exactly what I'm talking about...oh the fun of it all..wink wink], to reconnecting with old friends, to keeping my family entertained, and the list goes on.
There are several major events taking place this year that I must mention:
Amidst all of this madness, I also have vowed to myself that this year I WILL achieve the goals that I have set for myself, and to do that is actually going to take some effort. As many of you already know, one of these goals is to become proficient on the piano/keys. I've also taken up trying to learn how to play the guitar, mostly because a great deal on one practically got thrown in my face and I really had no reason not to take it. It's proven to be easier than I thought, but it's going to be a while before I'm comfortable with it..I'm ready for the challenge, though! Bring it!
There are several major events taking place this year that I must mention:
- My best friend in the entire world ever is getting married and I will be visiting California for the first time ever in life [besides the time I went when I was 2...um, yah, no recollection there].
- I am turning 30 [I know, I know, I keep mentioning this...but it's just really freakin scary!!].
- My 10-year wedding anniversary [all I can say is...wow].
- My youngest daughter, Ashlyn, will be starting ballet [it may seem like a "who cares" thing to you, but you haven't had to live with her begging to be in dance class for the past year...it's heartbreaking..."pweesee mama, pweeeeeeeeeseee, i wan go bawey cwass cuz I'm a buful pwincess"..she actually snuck into a class when we were at the studio once and "auditioned" for the owner/instructor...so yah...it's a HUGE deal around here].

G-O Let's go Giants...
Seriously, watching football reminds me of my cheerleading/dancing days. To be quite honest, I never actually went to a game and sat in the stands to watch. Every game that I have actually attended in person, I have either been on the track cheering (spirit fingers!!!!) or on the field at halftime gettin' down..(I totally miss it! Dancing, not cheerleading..hehe).
I like football, but not enough to actually watch every game. I pretty much just like to watch the Broncos and the Superbowl. That being said, the Giants/Pats game has made a fan out of me..that was an amazing game! I was rooting for the underdog...and sure enough, they did it!
Go team. aaannd I'm done. ;)
